Precisions of measure are .010 inch for the width and thickness and .062 inch for the length. Profiles are taken every half-inch on all the board length up to 2000 feet per minute. This system can be installed directly at the outfeed of the planer. Each board can be tracked through the trimmer using a printed code (using invisible ink) on the board that is later recognized by a scanner system. The Autolog linear planer mill optimizer is located directly after the planer. It includes 2 infeed and 2 outfeed pressrolls required to create a gap between boards. A very high precision scanner (+/- 0.010") made of 4 laser heads is embedded to measure profiles every 1/2" along the entire length of the board. The scanner operates at a speed up to 2000'/minute. It processes boards from 3/4" up to 4" thick, from 2.5" up to 12" wide and 6' to 24' long. To track the boards, a printer using ultraviolet ink is located after the outfeed to print an invisible number on each board. When a board is loaded on the trimmer line, the ultraviolet code on the board is read by a vision system with top and bottom cameras.
